You shouldn't have!

Says my mind. Sometimes. Then it says- screw it, you're not really here to study anyway...!
So...
 I went to a brewery!..
 Admired some Christmas decorations...
 Listened to some stories...
 Admired more Christmas decorations...
 Drank some beer...
 Made some fancy salads...
Helped out a friend (the lovely Julie)...
Volunteered and made some new (old) friends! (volunteering at a thanksgiving dinner fundraiser held at a nursing home)...
Ate lots of food (perks of volunteering)...
And took some photos of flowers.

P.S Mum- I have actually studied a bit too- I promise!

Snowmen and Sea Creatures

My friend Jess had a Jello (read:jelly!) shot and ugly-christmas sweater party on the weekend. Pretty much the best thing EVER! Awkwardly and unattractively scooping liquored-up wobbly stuff out of little plastic shot glasses with your tongue, whilst wearing a hideous festive-themed knitted monstrosity. Awesome.
But seriously. look at those little guys! Jess put in so much effort, the shots were actually amazing!! There were red/white wine ones, ones with little teddies drowning (and one committing suicide.. poor guy), ones with grapes, watermelon ones, blue/green ones, whisky ones.. it was incredible!
To add insult to injury: the compulsory party hat! She looks pleased.
Slaandjivaa! (to your health! in Gaellic)
Such good times! x

the little things

I've been trying to make the most of my last few weeks here, and today I had a wonderful date with myself- strolling through some new neighbourhoods, and visiting spots I already love.
How cool is this colourful brick wall?!
 Sweet graffiti- Halifax Commons.
 Bare trees.
If only I had unlimited bag-space. Amazing collection of pretty things in there.
 Some of the last leaves.
 Love your style, Halifax.
 How cool is that sign?

A stroll through the hydtrostone neighbourhood, North Halifax. This area was completely flattened by the Halifax explosion of 1917, and subsequently rebuilt using 'hydrostone', rather than the previous flimsy wooden structure. Now a pretty cool little row of houses with a cute bakery and some sweet little eateries.
Oh. And I got bored of being blonde! Byebye, blondie!

My days right now are punctuated with:

Coffee dates. Movie nights on weekdays. Too much maple. Falling leaves. First frost. Amazing sushi. Runs through the woods. New neighbourhoods. New friends. Feels-like-forever friends. Missing home. Loving my new home. Sad to leave so soon. Last weeks of uni. Passionate debates. Vintage finds. Me dates. New hair. Winter chill. Christmas lights. Travel planning. Flights booking. Daydreaming. So much love.

The little things count x

Last Month blues

Time has passed so quickly, I'm trying really hard not to hate on it for passing me by every day. I'm going to be so sad to leave this place, it really does feel like home to me now. But, I've just got to make the most of the last month I have here! Not too many travel plans on the horizon (until the end of semester, that is), just hanging out with wonderful friends, frequenting favourite places and finishing up uni work. The lifestyle here is going to be tough to leave behind, though. No real responsibilities, no work, no worries- it couldn't be better.

Here are some random snaps from around Halifax, I love this place.

The pond in the public gardens from a few weeks ago when it was a bit more green.

I have been lapping up living on the coast- the harbour is so lovely.
A day supporting the Dal rugby team
Some pretty friends, Emily and Maria
More pretty friends- Julie and Kathlyne
Love this girl- Anna Banana and Anne Banane <3
And lastly, a blurry pic from one of many trips to one of my favourite coffee shops- steve o reno's- many a study day has been spent here.

Although I will be supremely sad to leave here, I do go through bouts of home-missing, and it will be nice to cuddle lots of my lovelies back home.
Today has been one of those days, as my thoughts have been with one of my best friends going through a tough time, miss you Amy love.

This song has been on repeat in my little dorm room today, perfect mix of nostalgia and sweetness;
